Main features of the gall bladder are: (1) a highly folded mucosa (not villi) lined with very clear, simple columnar epithelium, (2) a thin muscularis with strands of smooth muscle, and (3) an external serosa with a mesothelial surface. The lamina propria here was studied earlier as a well preserved example of loose (areolar) connective tissue. What is the function of the gall bladder?
