SMALL-MEDIUM VENULES: Slightly larger vessels with a greater diameter,
Intima: Endothelium, slight subendothelial layer, occasional IEL.
VALVES MAY BE SEEN. Semilunar folds of the intimal endothelium that project into the lumen. Elastic tissue lined by endothelium
Media: Slight thickness from 3-7 layers of smooth muscle, occasionally longitudinally oriented, as well as some collagen and elastic fibers.
Adventitia: Thickest component still with collagen and elastic fibers, some smooth muscle cells (longitudinal orientation) as well as a vasa.
Slide #131 (Ileum): Re-visit this slide to identify this vessel type in the connective tissue of these organs.
