Slide 134 - The Appendix contains multicellular, but still very simple, tubular intestinal glands. Look for an area where the full extent of a tubule can be seen as a long, narrow, test-tube-like structure. Notice that it is lined with simple columnar epithelium that includes several goblet cells. Notice also that in some of the epithelial cells the nuclear chromatin is condensed and darkly stained; these cells are undergoing mitosis.
