Slide 112 - Lip, showing the
transition from keratinized (outside) to non-keratinized (inside) stratified squamous
epithelium. The slightly keratinized layer of the red portion of the lip
(vermillion border) is very thin. In the external thin skin, find typical
hair, sebaceous glands, and sweat glands. (The over-sized, bulbous hair
follicles sometimes seen here are peculiar to the monkey lip).
